The City of Fairview has the following positions available at this time. 


Lifeguard

Under direct supervision of the swimming pool manager and/or the swimming pool assistant manager, the lifeguard will ensure the safety of patrons at the swimming pool by preventing and responding to emergences. In addition, lifeguards will perform all duties required for upkeep for the municipal pool. 


  • Education & Certification Required
  • Current Lifeguard Certification
  • Current CPR & First Aid Certification
  • Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Accident prevention and rule enforcement of the Fairview Aquatic Center
  • Perform lifesaving skills in intense situations
  • Scan designed areas to ensure adults and children using the pool and facilities are safe environment and prevent accidents and injuries. When on stand this will be the only duty of a Lifeguard
  • Monitor personal health, come to work alert, and well rested in order to perform duties
  • Take money for daily admissions and for concession stand, balance both drawers at the end of each day; the designee lifeguard takes money to police department after closing each night
  • Assists in daily maintenance and cleaning of the Aquatic Center
  • Assists in chemical balancing and measurement of water areas
  • Ability to perform utmost customer service in lifeguarding duties
  • Must report to work on a regular and timely basis
  • Performs other work as necessary and or as assigned by supervisor
  • Skills & Qualifications
  • Excellent swimming skills
  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Must be firm, fair, consistent, and courteous
  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations
  • Physical ability to run, swim and exert with no prior warning
  • Ability to lift, walk and carry moderate equipment and other items on a frequent basis
  • Able to work on uneven, sometimes slippery surfaces; extensive walking, standing, kneeling, stooping, and bending required
  • Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
  • Ability to perform CPR and apply general first aid
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Basic communication skills, both oral and written, to exchange information, give/receive simple instructions and respond to inquiries
  • Must be able to correctly take money and make change
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the general public
  • Vision, speech, and hearing sufficient to perform essential tasks


  • NOTICE:  This is a “safety sensitive” position as defined by the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act and/or the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana laws. As a “safety sensitive” classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse you form testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana. 


  • Work Environment

Work is this classification is outdoors. The employee is exposed to hot, wet, and humid conditions and within and around swimming pools. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud in the pool facilities. The employee is exposed to pool chemicals that must be handled with extreme caution. Requires ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and irregular hours.

SEASONAL CITY GROUNDSKEEPER

The Seasonal City Groundskeeper, under the direct supervision of the public works director and/or City Superintendent, manages and performs all duties in maintaining the grounds to all parks, city owned property, ditches, and waterways. 


  • Qualifications
  • A Valid Oklahoma Driver License
  • Light, medium, and heavy equipment operating principle, practices, and procedures
  • Minor equipment maintenance and repair functions
  • Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the maintenance of all parks, city property, ditches, and waterways
  • Receives written work orders and verbal instructions from Public Works Director and/or City Superintendent
  • Cuts grass, trims weeds, cuts limbs, and edges city property, parks, and cemetery
  • Digs flower beds and plants flowers
  • Empties trash cans, and clean grounds of litter
  • Drives truck and loads brush and roadside trash onto truck, and delivers to landfill
  • Removes and replaces damaged signs
  • Serves as maintenance technician for mowers, etc.
  • Replaces worn or damaged parts such as hoses, wiring, and belts, in machines and equipment such as truck and riding mower
  • Other duties may be assigned

  • Organize, set priorities, and exercise sound independent judgement within areas of responsibility
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully with staff and the public
  • A willingness to participate in training sessions to develop or enhance required skills
  • Physical Demands

Requirements must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.


The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
