ANNUAL CONSUMER CONFIDENCE REPORT

Delivering a safe, sustainable, reliable water supply is vital to our families and businesses and plays a large role in economic development and it’s something we take very seriously.

SanitationDEPARTMENT

We appreciate your help ensuring garbage in your polycarts and dumpsters will not harm workers or equipment. Please be considerate of trash contents.

GARBAGE COLLECTION POLICY
Residential:
• (1) ½ yard poly cart is available to each residential customer. The cart remains the property of the Fairview Utilities Authority. 
• All trash must be placed in the poly cart.
• For customers with front or side yard pickup, the carts must be moved from the curb or yard, after it has been dumped, to a location other than the front of the house. 
• Furniture, mattresses, carpet, or any other large items will NOT be picked up by the collection truck crews. Roll offs are provided for your convenience in disposing of these items. 
• Collection crews will pick up the larger items listed above during Spring or Fall Cleanup or other designated special cleanup periods.  
• Bagged grass clippings may be taken to the Recycling Center at 424 S. Main during regular business hours.  

Commercial: 
• If the business does not have a dumpster, the same guidelines for residential customers applies. 
• All trash must be put in the dumpster.
• Commercial dumpsters for commercial use are available for purchase from the City of Fairview.

RECYCLING CENTER
The rules and regulations for the City of Fairview’s onsite recycling center are posted on site at 424 S. Main.

Gate Hours:
• March – September: Tuesday – Saturday: 8 am to Noon, 1 pm to 5 pm
• October – February: Tuesday – Saturday: 10 am to Noon, 1 pm to 4 pm.

LIMB CHIPPING POLICY
• The City of Fairview will chip and haul tree trunks from the city free of charge two (2) times a year during the annual Spring and Fall Cleanup Weeks. 
• Limbs must be placed within 10’ of the curb for access of city crews. Limbs may be placed in the alley but only by necessity and must not obstruct city services or emergency crews.
• Limbs overhanging into streets may be trimmed by the City if the property owner or resident does not do the trimming.
• A maximum time of one (1) hour will be allowed at each address. Additional time will be charged at $60.00 per hour.
• Contractors employed by the resident or property owner to trim or remove trees will be responsible for removing the limbs and/or tree trunks.
• Additional chipping will be done upon request, at the City’s convenience, for a charge of $60.00 per hour.
• The City will chip and haul limbs and trees after a storm or disaster at no charge.
• The City will make the final determination as to whether a tree(s) creates a problem or potential problem to utility services or creates a safety issue. The City will trim or remove trees that interfere with city owned electric distribution lines by ordinance.

WastewaterDEPARTMENT

The City of Fairview Wastewater Department is overseen by current Class B, C and D certified operators and is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the waste treatment facility and collection system within the city. The wastewater department employs the use of pumps and lift stations to keep the material moving. The department regularly cleans and repairs line and pumps to ensure the proper conveyance of the wastewater.

SEWER BACKUPS
Sewer backups are usually unexpected, a mess and can often be costly. You might ask who fixes the problem? Good question! It depends on whether the stoppage is in your private line or the city main. If it is in the city main, the City of Fairview crews will fix it in a timely manner. If the problem is with the private line connecting your house to the city main, it is your responsibility to call a plumber and pay for the damages. It is against the law for the city crews to work on private property; city crews are not licensed to work on private lines.

ElectricDEPARTMENT

It is our mission is “to provide electric service to our customers at the lowest possible cost with the highest possible degree of reliability in a manner that reflects our respect for and stewardship of the environment.” 
 
The City of Fairview purchases electricity from the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority (OMPA) and is transmitted via Western Farmers and Cimarron Electric and then distributed to businesses and residences of Fairview and reaches into rural areas as well. The City of Fairview’s Electrical Department is responsible for maintaining and constructing the City’s 80 miles of electric distribution as well as the traffic signals and street lights. The department responds to power outages 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

StreetDEPARTMENT

The City of Fairview’s Street Department maintains more than 70 miles of streets and alleys within the city limits as well as curbs, sidewalks, storm drains and waterways. To facilitate in street maintenance the City owns and operates a mechanical street sweeping machine.

Parks &RECREATION

 The City of Fairview is pleased to offer a wide array of parks and green space for use by our residents and surrounding communities. State of the art playground equipment as well as pavilions are spread throughout many of the 6 parks for family fun and picnics in Fairview. Specht Park – home of the Fairview Aquatic Center – is the largest park with plenty shelter houses, play equipment, gazebo and restrooms.

LEGACY GOLF COURSE

Driving Directions: 7 miles west of Fairview on Highway 60, then 4 miles south and 1 mile west. 

A rolling, 9-hole course with putting green in a natural wooded area which lends itself to challenged golfing as well as glimpses of wildlife and breath-taking sunsets. Golf carts are available. 

CITY OF FAIRVIEW BALLPARK COMPLEX
Home field for the summer youth and adult softball and baseball league teams as well as Fairview Yellowjacket’s Jr. High and High School softball and baseball programs. This 4-field facility with concession stand is a joint effort between Fairview Public Schools and City of Fairview.

AquaticCENTER

Renovated in 2009, the Olympic-sized pool, two diving boards, slides, and splash pad with water to cool off in the summer sun! Pool-side umbrellas, lounge chairs, picnic tables and benches as well as concession stand are available. Pool rentals are available.
