Garbage Collection Policy Effective April 9, 2009 GARBAGE COLLECTION
POLICY The Fairview Utilities Authority is making changes in the way the trash will be picked up in the residential
and commercial areas of the City. The new policy guidelines are as follows: Residential Customers
1. Dumpsters will no longer be picked up in residential areas after Friday, May
8, 2009.Customers with dumpsters are encouraged to move the dumpster from the alley or point of pickup after the trash is
picked up during the week of May 4th-8th. A poly cart will be delivered to customers with dumpsters prior to this period.
2. In addition to dumpsters, cans or other type containers will not be picked
up after a poly cart has been delivered to your residence. If you want to keep your current trash receptacle, please
remove it from the point of trash pickup or it will be removed and destroyed by the collection crews. 3. A 95-gallon poly cart will be delivered at no cost to each residence that does
not currently have one. This cart will remain the property of the Fairview Utility Authority.
4. All trash must be placed in the poly cart. An occasional extra bag will
be picked up but a consistent overage will require an additional cart. 5. For
customers with front or side yard pickup, the carts must be moved from the curb or yard, after it has been dumped, to a location
other than the front of the house. 6. Furniture, mattresses, carpet, or any
other large items will not be picked up by the collection truck crews. Roll offs are provided for your convenience in
disposing of these items. Grass clippings will be picked up if they are placed in the cart(s). 7.
Collection crews will pickup the items listed in No. 6 during Spring Cleanup or other designated special cleanup periods.
8. Customer purchased poly-carts must be compatible with the collection trucks in order
to be emptied by the garbage collectors. Commercial Customers 1. If the business does not
have a dumpster, the same guidelines stated above for residential customers applies. 2.
